Media Library

The table below is a library of media resources that are associated with historical events, people, or places in Norwich prior to 1960. The main goal is to provide quick access to the body of knowledge that exists on the internet and in print. Another goal is to give credit and show appreciation to the countless number of historians, teachers and students who have created and provided the media for us to learn from.

The SEARCH box can be used to search for any word, phrase or year. All keywords contained in the database will be searched.

The small, white up/down arrows, in the first row of the table, will sort any column in either ascending or descending order.

The “Creator/Source”, “Media Type”, and “Placemark” boxes give you the ability to apply a filter. First click any one of the three small, black  down-arrowheads. After the categories pop-up, choose any one and the filter will be applied. The table will now only be populated with entries that are associated with the chosen category.

NOTE: The “Creator/Source” column shows the name of the original creator of the media. If creator’s name is unknown, then the column shows the name of the information source.

When you click on the “Click Here” button (located in the “Link to Source” column), you will be directed to the actual location where the media resides.  After you finish viewing the media, you can return to this web page by clicking on the left arrow, located at the top left corner of your browser window.

Example: Click on the small black down-arrowhead in the “Placemark” box. Now click on  the entry “1624-1714 Lt Thomas Leffingwell”. Now you will only see the media associated with the “1624-174 Lt Thomas Leffingwell” placemark. If you click on any one of the “Click Here” buttons in the “Link to Source” column, your browser will open the location of media source. If you click on any one of the “Click Here” buttons in the “Placemark Link” column, your browser will open to the Placemark that you have chosen.
